Gifts of
Love, originally founded in 2001, is comprised entirely of volunteers
whose lives have been touched in some way by critically ill infants.
Our volunteers include doctors, nurses, hospital support staff, family
and friends of these special babies. Due to the intimacy that so many
of us within the organization have had with critically ill infants, we
understand the immense challenges and heartaches, as well as joy,
associated with high-risk infants. This understanding brings us to a
strong commitment to remain focused on our founding principals.
Gifts of Love receives funding from direct donations, fund
raisers and grant requests. Presently the majority of our funding comes from
direct donations made in the honor/memory of a special person, in celebration of
special events or from donors who simply recognize the great needs of high-risk
infants.
With the funding we receive, we undertake projects that are designed to help us
accomplish our objectives. Projects may be proposed by anyone, but must
ultimately have a Gifts of Love Board Member sponsor. This sponsor then presents
the project to the entire Board for approval. Up to this point, our projects
have primarily focused on the Birmingham, Alabama area.
Please see our News/Projects section for
details of some of our projects.
