Poverty is by far the largest barrier to a girl’s education. Poor families often can’t afford tuition, supplies, or the loss of income when girls attend school instead of working. As a result, there are approximately 122 million girls out of school around the world. But the best place for a girl to spend her time is in school. Girls who attend school are less likely to experience abuse and childhood marriage and are less likely to die in childbirth. Educated girls earn significantly more and can better care for themselves and their families. Your gift of love is a godsend because you share an entire year of support, helping a girl and her family offset school-related expenses and providing her access to support services.
